What’s the Yous?

CLIENT: Yousra Hebeishy is a powerhouse of amazingness. She incredibly smart, has a pulse on pop culture, and a heart for social justice. She is also the host of “What’s the Yous?” - a podcast centered around giving listeners a perspective in tackling life’s challenges and moving towards personal growth, self-love, and the manifestation of our dreams.

Yousra came to us needing some branding for her podcast. She already had a name, a doodle, and a podcast cover in mind. We were just tasked to making it a reality.

This project was multifaceted because we needed to take photos, create a brand identity, design cover artwork, and make custom icons. Just a necessary things when it comes to launching a podcast.

Discovery call & mood boards

We actually kicked off this project with a discovery call over some sandwiches in Larchmont.

We discussed the look and feel and heart behind the podcast and what Yousra was wanting from it. And we talked about other brands and thought leaders that she really liked.

With that I put together a deck of various mood boards so that she could select what resonated with her the most.

A little back & forth

Once we were on the same page with art direction, I was able to create and compile various name marks, logo sketches, color swatches, and font stories. And from there she made selections on what she liked best.

We took the feedback, refined the artwork, presented it to her again, and waited for a response.

It’s a rinse and repeat until we hone in on the final brand assets.

Shooting & designing the podcast cover

Somewhere in the middle of finalizing a brand, we also scheduled a photoshoot for the podcast cover. Yousra already had knew how she wanted it to look, we just had to shoot with that in mind.

Once a photo was selected, I went to designing the cover for her. We had a few different variations but this is what we ended up with. Sweet and simple.

Custom icons for Season 2

After a full season, Yousra began to notice a few topics that stood out to her and her guests. And so she decided to add custom icons to the mix for Season 2.

We went through the same process of pulling together a few different mood boards on style and art direction to see what she liked the most. And then we created a deck of specific icons to find out what stood out to her visually.

Once we had a better idea of what she liked the most, Christina went to work with designing the icons. Each one is original and created specifically for Yousra’s podcast.

There were only minor change requests because we were able to nail the look and feel down pretty quickly.

Christina was able to deliver the final icons in two color variations as well as pngs.

And with those pngs I was able to integrate into the podcast cover!

Same photo, same colors, same font. Just this time with the added icons.

We’re excited to have worked on this project with Yousra and can’t wait for the new season to drop!
